Biography
Larger than life character, David Dickinson is never short
of a catchphrase or two to add sparkle to the conversation.
He has a six figure yearly earnings and is all knowing
in the world of antiques. He has even been honoured with
a parody on Dead Ringers where he led an appeal to help
people with orange skin.
Born in 1941, he was adopted from a young age and grew
up in Cheadle, Lancashire. His father died in 1953 and
his mother had to work a lot but despite this David
maintains that he had a happy childhood. His grandmother,
who was French, also helped to raise him and he attributes
his love of style to this.
David left school when he was fourteen he left school
to become an engineer. However after only six months
he left this and got a job in textiles. He started his
own business, selling various textiles and adding on
his own commission. Several years later he decided to
contact his birth mother and found her living in Jersey.
Sometime around 1965, David met his future wife while
partying down in a nightclub. He has now been married
to cabaret artist Lorne Lesley for over thirty years.
